IN WITH THE NEW
| THE NEW SCHOOL
As the Continuing Education program is a major point of brand awareness for The New School, they were looking to advertise these offerings in a BIG way for the Spring semester of 2016. We explored some unconventional platforms to get the message out there and ultimately decided that a projection in one of the most highly trafficked areas of the city near our home base, the University Center in Union Square on New Year's Day (evening) would be the best execution, and we teamed up with the awesome folks at GoGorilla to help us with the technology and logistics.
The amazingly gifted and effervescent Kayla Kern designed the copy frames, and I designed the overall motion behavior and transitions, as well as animated the entire piece. Since black shows up as negative space when projected, it was a cool design experiment in using physical space, in this case a building and by extension the city itself, as a texture, furthering the narrative that the link between The New School, it's progressive student culture, and New York are inextricable.
