SPARRING SESSIONS
| WWE
Sparring Sessions was a WWE Network show pitch that attempts to pull back the curtain a bit on the long standing rules of “kayfabe” and give audiences a peek on how some wrestlers prepare and choreograph their dance…er… matches in the ring.
I had a ton of fun developing a look for this series, but unfortunately at the time of this writing, the show has not been picked up. Below are a select few explorations I developed that I was pleased with and aim to revisit and refine down the line.

STYLEFRAMES
The only design direction that came in from the producers was “old dirty gym”, but I was given some latitude to push the concept into other interesting directions if the results were strong. I was inspired by old timey boxing/wrestling promotional posters in texture, shapes, and typography, and contrasted with the ultra-sleek contemporary motion design stylings of combat sports, and of course neon colors because why not?
